Cyprian Cassar /composer, arranger, producer/ was born on the 15th August 1983. Together with his good friend Joven Grech, he was part of the famous duo Tenishia, that was in Top 100 in DJ Mag for four years. Since opening his own recording studio in Malta, Cyprian had had the opportunity to work with several artists including; Janice Mangion with whom he produced Kewkba, Warda, Xewqti and most recently Sajjetta fil-Bnazzi; Danica Muscat; Enya Magri; Gaia Cauchi; and Kevin Paul. His composition, and produced Marchin’ On, penned by Emil Calleja Bayliss and sung by Ela Mangion was chosen as Malta’s representative at the 2018 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, where it ranked 5th.
Janice Mangion (Singer) At the age of 12, Janice Mangion showed a keen interest in music, and as a result took up singing lessons before turning her attention to the piano during her teenage years. One of her first milestones came in 2007, when she joined the cast of the successful television show “L-Isfida”. In recent years, Janice has managed to scale the heights of the local music industry by virtue of being a member of the ‘Animae Gospel Choir’ and also reaching the finals of the “Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza” where finished in 3rd place on her second appearance in 2011, “L-Għanja tal-Poplu”, “The Summer Hit Song Contest”, and also the “Malta Eurovision Song Contest”. In 2016 Janice reached the final of the “Malta Eurovision Song Contest”with the song Kewkba and finished in 2nd place, achieving 4,544 votes. Same year she participated in Discovery Festival in Bulgaria and in the Slaviansky Bazaar. In 2018, she released her new single, ‘Warda’, released through CAP-Sounds. Warda made a long-lasting impact on the iTunes charts reaching number 1 on the day of it’s release, a position it kept for a couple of weeks. At the end of 2018 she was included in “Ħelu Bambin”, a bi-annual compilation album filled with popular Christmas songs, The song reached number 1 on the local iTunes Chart, and also clocking up more than 10+ views on YouTube. In June 2019, Janice found out that she’s a finalist in L-Għanja tal-Poplu 2019 with the song “Għadu Mhux il-Waqt”, an original song penned by Emil Calleja Bayliss to the music of Mark Scicluna, the same songwriters behind “Kewkba”, going onto win the award for Best Interpretation. Just weeks after, she also made her Malta Pride Concert debut giving an oustanding rendition of Katy Perry’s Firework. “Għadu Mhux il-Waqt” was released onto digital platforms by German independent publisher; CAP-Sounds and went on to chart at number 1 on iTunes, continuing the trend set forth by all her previous singles. In 2020, she’s back in the studio working on new original material, despite the setback brought about by the worldwide pandemic. In October 2020, she released her brand new single “Sajjetta fil-Bnazzi” which she penned to the music of Cyprian Cassar and Mark Scicluna.
Mark Scicluna (Composer) was born on 12 October 1984. He is a teacher of graphical design and technological information. He studied music theory and classical piano and has been writing both music and lyrics for around 10 years. Some of his works include; Eternita by Janice Mangion, which ranked in 3rd place at the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2011, Jien Ma Naħdimx by Karen DeBattista which won the 38th edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu and Kewkba by Janice Mangion which finished in 2nd place at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. The first two songs were penned by Rita Pace, with the latter penned by Emil Calleja Bayliss.
