Alexandrina Simeon is a Bulgarian composer and jazz singer, living since many years in Augsburg, Germany. Not only her music appears between the worlds. Born into a family of musicians – both parents are orchestral musicians. After taking an education in classical violin and singing, she deepened her studies into jazz singing, visiting classes of Harriet Lewis and Karen Edwards at the conservatory in Munich. Very soon she became a solo singer in different jazz and big bands, as well as in gospel ensembles and soul bands. Her most expressive voice can be heard not only with local bands, but also on international stages in Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Bulgaria and in TV-Productions of ZDF or BR (German TV channels). She participated in several CD-productions of different type of styles.
Since 2010 she has her own jazz band, the Alexandrina Simeon Quintett. Here she appears not only as a singer, but also writes the music and the lyrics for the songs. Therefore she picked out melodies from her home country Bulgaria and combined them with influences from around the world. Bulgarian rhythms and melodies meet jazz harmonies, Latin American spirit meets soulful vocal passages and African rhythms enrich and inspire. The central theme, however, is and remains her love of jazz.
