
Todor Georgiev sings the winner song at the end
In 2016 Bulgaria won for the first time the Discovery Song Contest. The festival took place in Varna, Bulgaria, from 19-th to 23rd May. The winner song „Till the end” was performed by it’s author, the young singer Todor Georgiev – Toshey, known by the Bulgarian audience for his participation in Voice of Bulgaria finals. The famous Bulgarian musician and composer Evgeni Dimitrov- Maestro, won the prize for arrangement for same song.
Todor, who’s birthday was in the festival day, was awarded with the WAFA (World Association of festivals and artists) Award. The managing team of WAFA was in Varna for the Annual Executive Board WAFA Meeting. WAFA gave a second WAFA award to Dimitry Sysoev from Ukraine.

Dimitry Sysoev
The second prize was for the song ”Fog”, performed by one of the song’s authors, Dimitry Sysoev from Ukraine. The third place in the Song contest won Spain with the song „Me hace falta”, performed by Juanjo Lopez, author of the song.

In the International Performers’ Constest the International Jury with Chairman Georgi Hristov, didn’t give award for the First place.

Jessika (Malta) and Cristi Nistor (Romania)
Second became Jessika from Malta, who won also Best female vocal and her song Hypnotica won the Prize of Bulgarian National Radio – Radio Varna. The other holder of the second prize is Cristi Nistor from Romania, who won also Award for Best studio mix and the song “Broken”, performed by him, won the Online voting with 14 000 votes out of 50 000. Author of the song is Tolga Gurdil from Turkey.

Angel Bonilla (Philippines) and Sharif Umkhanov (Russia)
On third place in Best performers contest were awarded Angel Bonilla from Philippines, who took also the Special Award for idviduality and the Russian Sharif Umkhanov, who became Best male vocal and won the Prize of the audience.
Nebi Birgi from Turkey was awarded as most artistic performer, universal talent and favorite of Media Jury.

Figen Cakmak (Turkey) and Mirela Fugaru (Romania)
Awards for best lyrics went to Figen Cakmak from Turkey for the song “Lonely nights, lonely dreams” and Mirela Fugaru from Romania for the song “Broken”.

Tia Pax (Molodva)
In the Dance song Category, the award was given to the song “Mine”, performed by Tia Pax from Moldova, and in the Contemporary Ballad Category the winner song was “Lonely nights, lonely dreams” composed by Mine Mucur from Turkey.

Leo Guisti (Italy)
Winner in the International Radio Contest became the song “Nel Buoto”, performed by one of the authors Leo Guisti.

Dinda Sepryani (Indonesia)
As Most charismatic performer was awarded Dinda Septriyani from Indonesia and Ralluca Sofrone from Romania won received the award Most perspective young perfomer.

The award of Novelty was given to Constantino Vetere from Italy.

Special guests in festival program were the Bulgarian star Georgi Hristov, the Romanian star Mihai Traistariu, the Polish Jazz perfomer Marius Szaban, the winners in previous Discovery editions Nikolay Manolov and Duet Mania and the small singers of Children Vocal Studio Yes from Varna.
